150 Videos of People in the Bathroom

Story by The Bristol Post - Man used hidden camera to film people using toilet

A man has admitted using a hidden camera to film people using the toilet in Bristol.

Shaun Andrews pleaded guilty today (July 16) at Bristol Magistrates’ Court to seven counts of voyeurism for sexual gratification.

The 23-year-old, accompanied in the dock by his mum because of his anxiety, also admitted three counts of making indecent images of children.

Wearing a blue suit and tie, he pleaded guilty to recording 150 videos of four people with their private parts exposed in a Bristol bathroom in 2017 and 2018.

Andrews, of Greenway Lane in Chippenham, targeted two women, one man and a fourth victim whose gender was not confirmed.

Prosecutor May Li said Andrews was discovered when one of the victims noticed a green light above a doorway and saw it was a hidden camera.

When she looked at what was in the memory card, she saw Andrews’ face in the footage. “He appeared to be placing the camera into position,” Ms Li said.

The victim reported this to police, which seized devices from Andrews and found footage showing the other offences.

They also found indecent images of children, aged from five to 12, on his laptop.

Chairwoman of the magistrates Gemma Hargreaves said: “This is too serious for our sentencing powers, so we commit you to sentencing at Bristol Crown Court on August 12.”

If you suspect a hidden camera is being used in your home or a public place, do not hesitate to report it!
